MyDNS

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MyDNS is an open-source - DNS server for Unix systems. The resource records are kept in a MySQL or PostgreSQL database. If the resource records are changed, there is no zone file that has to be reloaded. This makes the server suitable for dynamic DNS, for example . Since version 1.1.0 of January 18, 2006, MyDNS also offers the option of answering recursive queries. If a domain is queried for which the MyDNS server has no information, the query is forwarded to another configurable DNS server, which can then resolve the query.

MyDNS optionally supports round robin , load balancing and outgoing zone transfer via AXFR to other name server software.

A fork was started under the name MyDNS-NG, this additionally supports incremental zone transfer via IXFR and was further developed until 2013.

Both DNS servers do not support requests over IPv6 .
