Muoneme

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Myonema threads are organelles of some protozoa that enable them to move in various ways . They consist of bundles of motor proteins that build up intracellular, contractible filaments , with the help of which particularly sessile protozoa (e.g. bells ) can withdraw very quickly. The subsequent slow re-stretching is caused by the elasticity of the envelope. The exact protein composition has not yet been clarified; spasmin, for example, is included as a motor protein .
