mypio

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

mypio was a telecommunications service available in Germany and Austria from the Austrian Digital Privacy GmbH, which made it possible to have additional telephone numbers on the cell phone without the need for additional SIM cards or smartphones . To do this, the user needed an existing mobile phone contract with an Austrian or German mobile phone provider . He also had to install the mypio app on his phone.

In December 2018, the operator filed for bankruptcy. The service was discontinued in February 2019.

In contrast to Voice-over-IP applications, the service used the telephone network and worked via GSM and LTE . For this reason, mypio could also be used when there was no data connection.

In Austria, mypio was an MVNO (virtual network operator) with its own area code 0668. In Germany, mypio used the Vodafone network.
