Náströmnd

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Náström (Icelandic: "corpse beach"; also Naströnd , Nastrand or Nástrandir ) refers to part of the Helheim underworld in the Edda .

According to this, Náströnd is the place where the dragon Nidhögg (more precisely in Hvergelmir ) and wolves eat the dead. Only mean people, like murderers and oath breakers, are there. The great hall there is far from the sun, all the doors point north and the walls are made of snakes whose venom drips down. This part of Hel's empire is also permeated by sluggish currents.
