Nüzi shier yuefang ( Chinese  女子 十二 樂 坊  /  女子 十二 乐 坊 , Pinyin Nǚzǐ shíèr Yùefǎng , English Twelve Girls Band ) is a Chinese music group whose all-female line-up plays modern pop music on traditional Chinese instruments and interprets traditional Chinese music in a modern way . All members come from music elite schools in the People's Republic . As the name suggests, there are always twelve musicians on stage, but some members have already changed. The band was founded on June 18, 2001 in Beijing, and they gave their first concert on October 5, 2001 in the Beijing Century Theater. Since then, the group has become very popular in the People's Republic, but also in Japan, where their first album sold over a million times within two months. On their big tour of Asia in 2004 they gave concerts in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand and Hong Kong.

The group mainly uses the following traditional Chinese elements: erhu (string instrument), pipa (Chinese lute), guzheng (zither), yangqin and dizi (flute).
