NAL approval for telecommunications products

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Telecommunications products must have a Network Access License (NAL; German  network access permit ) so that they can be legally exported to the People's Republic of China . The NAL is a mandatory approval of telecommunication devices that are connected to the public telecommunication network. Responsible for this method of selection is the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in short: MIIT) in China. This Chinese authority is also responsible for the management and interconnection of the public telecommunications networks in China.

backgrounds

The first three product categories for NAL approval were published in June 2001. There are now around 25 product categories in total, which contain around 300 different telecommunications products. There is also the additional subdivision into the two main groups "normal devices" and "high-end devices". It is imperative that the telecommunications products concerned have NAL approval before they are imported into China.

Currently only 14 test laboratories in China are authorized for this approval process. It should be emphasized that each of these test laboratories specializes in a certain product group and has been accredited by the Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA).
