NEM shaft

The NEM shaft is a receptacle for exchangeable coupling heads according to the standards of European model railways .

In order to be able to attach couplings from different manufacturers to model railways, a uniform coupling pocket for coupling heads has been agreed in the European Model Railways (NEM) standards. The binding NEM 362 standard specifies a coupling pocket for the nominal sizes H0 , S and 0 and the recommendation NEM 355 proposes a uniform coupling pocket for nominal size N , whereby existing property rights must be observed.
