NOD SCID

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nod SCID is the name of a mouse model that is widely used in biological research, especially in cancer and diabetes research.

In this model, the SCID mutation ( Severe Combined Immunodeficiency , severe combined immunodeficiency) is combined with a NOD ( Non-Obese Diabetic) type. Functional T cells or B cells do not form in animals homozygous for the SCID mutation . Due to this immune defect, these animals are ideally suited to exogenous cells, e.g. B. transplanted tumors or T cells to tolerate.

Due to the NOD background, these animals are also very suitable for the investigation of type I diabetes mellitus .
