NORD (magazine)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

NORD is an annual, free and advertising-financed magazine from Berlin that deals with new lifestyle products and current cultural productions from Scandinavia . The previous areas of the magazine include music, fashion, literature, design, theater productions and travel destinations. It is available in cultural institutions, galleries, various cafés and bars as well as universities in Berlin and is currently available from the online mail order company Scandstyle.

The NORD magazine is published by the German-Swedish agency Himmel & Jord with an annually changing focus:

  • NORD was first published as a program booklet in 2005 to support the thesis that “Berlin (...) is the secret capital of the Nordic countries”.
  • In 2006, NORD appeared as part of the NORD Kulturforum, which took place from April 21, 2006 to May 7, 2006. The main theme of this issue was “Urban Reflexions”, in which the subjects of big and small towns as well as change were discussed.
  • In 2007 NORD's subtitle was “You have no taste” and referred to the “NORD Style” exhibition at the Designmais 2007 in Berlin. The current edition is 40,000 copies. A second magazine has also been newly integrated: SÜD, as the little “sister” of NORD, aims to convey German culture and art.

The editor-in-chief of all editions is Ralf Gion Fröhlich, who was also editor-in-chief of the German-Swedish fashion magazine “Straight” from 2000 to 2004.
