NST Lappeenranta is a Finnish floorball club from Lappeenranta , which was founded in 1994. He has both a men and a women team.

The women play in the highest Finnish league, while the men have been playing in the second highest Finnish league since the 2016/17 season.

history

The association was founded on May 25, 1994 in the Finnish town of Lappeenranta . Tuomo Sinkko became the first president of the association.

In 1996 the two clubs Sammonlahden Pojat (SaMPO) and Sammonlahden Bandy (Samba) were also integrated into the NST Lappeenranta.

Ladies

The women were able to win the Naisten Salibandyliiga for the first time in 2006, having previously achieved third place. In 2007 they finished second. Between 2008 and 2010, NST was in third place. In 2011 they were able to secure second place. The fifth bronze medal followed in 2012.

This was followed by a two-year dry spell without a title. In 2015 they were able to secure third place for the sixth time. 10 years after their first title in the Naisten Salibandyliiga, the women succeeded in winning the title again with a 3-2 victory over the SC Classic in the Hartwall Arena in front of 6,631 spectators. The final was initially held as a superfinal .

In 2016/17 the women finished the qualification in seventh place. In the playoffs they meet SB-Pro Nurmijärvi.

Men's

Compared to the women, the men are not as consistent in their seasons. In recent years, NST was able to hold a maximum of three years in the top division before relegation to the second division followed.

In 2007/08, the team reached eighth place, which entitled to the playoffs. In the playoffs, however, they were eliminated by the winner of the regular season EraViikingit in the series with 3-1. A season later they could not qualify for the playoffs and reached the 10th final rank.

During the 2009/10 season, the team was only able to score 12 points and was the last to be relegated directly to Finland's second-highest league. After a season in the second highest league, the team rose again to the Salibandyliiga for the 2011/12 season.

After the recovery, the team was at the end of the season in 12th place. In the relegation they prevailed against the Westend Indians from Espoo .

In 2012/13, NST qualified for the playoffs for the second time. However, they failed in the first round on qualifying winner Happee Ry. 2013/14 they managed to qualify for the playoffs again. However, as in the 2007/08 season, they failed due to EraViikingit. The 2014/15 season ended NST Lappeenranta in 10th place, which enables them to remain in the league. In 2015/16 the team could not build on the performances from the previous season and finished the qualification with a meager 10 points in last place, which means direct relegation to the second-highest league. Lappeenranta only needed one point more to overtake SalBa and get into the play-outs. Thus, the club rose again from the second highest league.

In the second highest division, NST Lappeenranta had difficulty keeping up, as numerous players left the club after relegation. They finished the season in the Divari in 13th place, synonymous with the play-outs. In the playouts, Lappeenranta was able to prevail against LeBa SB in the best-of-three series.
