Nagware

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As nagware (from english to nag nerves) is called shareware , which is characterized in that it comes up during and after a granted test phase with penetrating purchase instructions. In contrast to other shareware types, Nagware can usually be used in its entirety without any restrictions on the scope of functions. However, frequent and annoying notification messages are intended to persuade the user to buy the (full) product for which these messages then no longer appear. The aim is, as with practically every shareware variant, to give the user an insight into the software, while at the same time motivating them to buy the product. The software differs from advertising with adware in that Nagware only advertises the paid registration of its own running application and not other products. The shareware notices typically appear

  • when starting the program, possibly associated with a waiting time of several seconds,
  • when exiting the program,
  • while using the program itself, e.g. B. through pop-up windows.

An example of such a program is WinRAR .
