Nairuz ( Arabic عيد النيروز, DMG ʿīd an-nairūz ) is the festival at the beginning of the year of the Coptic calendar . The word is related to the Persian Nouruz . Nairuz is celebrated on the first day of Thout . The date corresponds to September 11th in the Gregorian calendar or, if the following Gregorian year is a leap year, September 12th.
