Nakaiiy calendar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nakaiiy calendar (sometimes also Nakaiy calendar ) is a calendar that the indigenous people of the Maldives developed for the division of intervals between ceremonial occasions. It consists of twenty-seven sections of thirteen or fourteen days.

In addition, it was and is used to divide the year into sections of 12 days in which geospecific weather conditions should prevail in the Maldives. This is particularly important for farmers, fishermen and water sports enthusiasts.

For the first time, the sections were carved into sea stone tablets, then finally written on papyrus with his invention . With the development of new hikers' calendars, which linked them to the original calendar, it changed enormously. Because of this, attempts were made to abolish and replace the calendar after many years. Eventually the Gregorian calendar was introduced. Descendants of the Maldivian indigenous people still do not accept this variant and still use the Nakaiiy calendar at times, which makes it very difficult to agree on a variant. Thanks to the Maldives tourists, the Nakaiiy calendar continues to spread. Some regional weather apps refer to the Nakaiy calendar.
