Namo WebEditor was an HTML editor developed by the South Korean company SJ Namo Inc. The last version was published on February 14, 2011. SJ Namo Inc. has discontinued the production of the WebEditor and has since devoted itself to other software projects. The last German version (Namo WebEditor 9) was published on December 21, 2011 and was only available as a download in the online shops commissioned by Namo.

The program belonged to the group of WYSIWYG editors and was only available for the Microsoft Windows operating system .

history

The software, first published in 1997, was initially completely unknown in Germany , but quickly became a bestseller in South Korea and Japan . In Germany, the editor only appeared with version 3.0 in 1999 and, alongside Microsoft FrontPage , was able to establish itself as a popular web editor for simple to medium-sized web projects in Germany. The editor reached its peak in popularity with versions 5 / 5.5 in 2002/2003. The Namo WebEditor had a wide range of functions in its time and was popular in both private and semi-professional areas. With a very faulty version 6.0, which came on the market in April 2004, the slow decline of the program began, which then resulted in the complete discontinuation of the software after the release of version 9.0.

properties

The web editor has both a graphical WYSIWYG editor and an optional HTML source text display. The program could process HTML , DHTML and CSS . The user always had a real preview of his web creation page and can make changes to the HTML source text at the same time. In addition to the actual editor, the package also included the vector-based graphics tool Webcanvas, the community builder Webboard and web utilities.
