Nana (title)

Nana is a Ghanaian honorary title .

People of old age or of noble descent receive the title Nana as an (additional) form of courtesy among the Ghanaian Akan peoples . It is often added to the name by clan chiefs or kings such as the Asantehene ( e.g. Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II ) or the Queen Mother ( Nana Asantehemaa ).
