Nara (circle)

Nara County

Nara is the name of a district (French cercle de Nara ) in the Koulikoro region in Mali on the border with Mauritania.

The district is divided into eleven parishes; in the 2009 census the population was 242,990. The population belongs to the Soninké, Peul, Bambara and Moors.

Municipalities: Nara (main town), Allahina , Dabo , Dilly , Dogofry , Fallou , Gueneibe , Guiré , Koronga , Niamana , Ouagadou . Over the long period from 1984 to 2001, the German state working group (LAG) Malihilfe supported the workers' welfare in Bavaria, based in Nuremberg, 17 villages in the Nara district.
