The Nat Hlaung Kyaung Temple ( Burmese နတ် လှောင် ကျောင်း ; pronounced: [naʔl̥àʊɴ tɕáʊn], also Nathlakyaung ) is the only Hindu temple in Bagan , Myanmar . He stands near the Thatbinnyu Temple .

history

It was built in 931 under King Taungthugyi .

description

All that remains of the temple is the central hall, the originally existing gallery has completely disappeared. On the pillar in the middle of the hall there are unfortunately only poorly reconstructed images of the god Vishnu , to whom the temple was probably dedicated. In the niches of the outer walls there were portraits of the ten avatars of Vishnu, including a statue of Buddha Gautama.
