Jakob Christian Bernuth , von Bernuth since 1786 (born July 31, 1729 in Groß Rosenburg , † April 13, 1797 in Hamm ) was a Prussian war and domain tax council .
Life
origin
Jakob was a son of the teacher in Groß Rosenburg Johann Heinrich Bernuth (1692-1754), and his wife Catharina Magda, née Hoff (* 1692). Together with his brother Johann Matthias von Bernuth (1716–1797), Chamber Director of the War and Domain Council in Kleve, he was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility on November 20, 1786 .
Career
Bernuth initially received lessons from his father and private teacher at home and later switched to the cathedral high school in Magdeburg with the rector Johann Gottlieb Immermann (1707–1775). At Easter 1747 he enrolled at the University of Halle to study law and attended legal, philosophical and historical lectures. He finished his studies at Easter 1752 and then visited his brother in Kleve in May 1752 as chamber secretary.
From 1752 to 1757 he worked as a secretary in a commission that directed the Westphalian salt industry . In 1857 he became the surplus chamber secretary and in 1761 he became a full secretary of the Brandenburg War and Domain Chamber in Kleve. In 1764 he joined the Commission for the Regulation of Debt in the Provinces of Kleve and Mark as secretary . On June 9, 1770, he completed the Grand Examination and on July 3, 1770, he was tax councilor in the county of Mark with its seat in Hamm; he presided over the cities north of the Ruhr. In 1788 he took his leave and went into retirement.
family
Bernuth married on June 26, 1766 in Dortmund Clara Gerstmann (1747-1818), a daughter of the general practitioner Barthold Florian Gerstmann. The following children were born from the marriage:
- Wilhelm (1768–1828), War and Tax Council at the War and Domain Chamber in Hamm;
- Johann Ludwig (1770–1857), Prussian Real Secret Chief Finance Officer ⚭ Wilhelmine Countess von Platen-Hallermund (1778–1827), a daughter of Imperial Count Philipp August von Platen Hallermund (1748–1831), head forester in Ansbach, her brother was the poet August from Platen-Hallermünde ;
- Friedrich (1772–1862), Prussian lieutenant colonel;
- Karl (1774–1843), councilor and president of the Münster Higher Regional Court ⚭ Luise Freiin von der Recke (1787–1862) from the Uentrop family , parents of politician August von Bernuth and major general Fritz von Bernuth ;
- Ernst (1779–1847), senior judge in Hamm ⚭ Luise von Bernuth (1787–1813), a daughter of Chamber President Friedrich von Bernuth (1757–1832);
- August (1782–1857), Prussian State Councilor ⚭ Dorothee Jochmus (1780–1865).
