National Association

The National Association (NA) was the world's first professional baseball league. Their full name was the National Association of Professional Base Ball Players (NAPBBP). It existed from 1871 to 1875.

The NA succeeded the National Association of Base Ball Players (NABBP), which coordinated the fate of most baseball clubs in the United States between 1857 and 1870 as an association of amateur clubs. Despite the relatively short life span, 25 different clubs played in NA, although the risk of confusion between team names and nicknames means that other counting results can also be found. The early end after just five years may be. a. attributed to the dominance of the Boston Red Stockings , which won four of the five titles. The National League followed from 1876 onwards .

From today's point of view (e.g. today's Major League Baseball or the Baseball Hall of Fame ), the National Association is not listed as a Major League; H. as the premier baseball league. This status is only granted to your successor organization.
