National Baptist Convention
National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. (abbreviated: NBC USA ) is an American Baptist congregation federation .
The church is one of the largest churches among African Americans and is the second largest Baptist community in the world after the Southern Baptist Convention . For NBC USA are 41,000 municipalities with more than 7.5 million members.
history
The Foreign Mission Baptist Convention was founded in Montgomery , Alabama in 1880 . Elias Camp Morris (1855–1922) helped found the Foreign Mission Baptist Convention . On September 28, 1895, the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. was created through the merger of the Foreign Mission Convention , the American National Baptist Convention (founded in 1886) and the Baptist Education Convention (founded in 1893).
Two organizations split off in the 20th century: the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc. (founded in 1915) and the Progressive National Baptist Convention (founded in 1961).
