National Democratic Party ( NDP ) was a political party in what is now Ghana , which was founded in 1951 during the independence process of the Gold Coast colony .

The chairman was Nii Amaa Ollennu , who later became head of state for a short time during the military junta.

After the split in the United Gold Coast Convention , the first party in Ghana, provoked by the operation of Kwame Nkrumah , the National Democratic Party joined forces with the remnants of the UGCC to form the Ghana Congress Party (GCP).
