National Liberal Party

The National Liberal Party was a political party in Great Britain .

The party split off in 1931 under the leadership of John Allsebrook Simon as the Liberal National Party from the Liberal Party because it no longer wanted to support their tolerance by the Labor government of Ramsay MacDonalds . In the last general election before the war, in 1935, she was ahead of the Liberals with 33 seats won . Politicians from the National Liberal Party became members of the multi-party government of the National Government .

The first two post-war elections, 1945 and 1950, resulted in a ratio of MPs from NLP to Liberals of 11 to 12, then 16 to 9. The National Liberal Party was also in the lead in 1951, 1955 and 1959. In the 1960s, the Liberal Party outstripped it again in the “race for third place”.

In 1968 the National Liberals united with the Conservative Party .
