NOAA Weather Radio (NWR) , also NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards , is a US-wide network of VHF radio stations that continuously broadcast 24/7 weather forecasts from their regional National Weather Service station. NWR sends the official severe weather warnings, forecasts and warns of other disasters. The network is operated by NOAA . It is part of the Emergency Alert System . In cooperation with the civil protection authorities at the federal, state and local levels, NWR sends information for all types of disasters. In addition to weather warnings, this also includes natural disasters (earthquakes or avalanches), environmental disasters (chemical accidents, oil spills, etc.) and information relating to public safety ( AMBER alerts (kidnapping notification) or failure of the 911 emergency number ).

NWR operates 1,032 transmitters covering all fifty states, as well as marine weather stations in Puerto Rico , the US Virgin Islands and the US Pacific Territories . NOAA offers special receivers, but broadcasts can also be received with VHF scanners . The following frequencies (in MHz) are used: 162.400, 162.425, 162.450, 162.475, 162.500, 162.525 and 162.550.
