National Reform Party

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The National Reform Party (National Reform Party) is a political party in Ghana .

The NRP was founded in 1999 by a group that split off from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the party of ex-President Jerry Rawlings . This happened primarily against the background of the presidential elections in 2000, for which Augustus Goosie Obuadum Tanoh , a close confidante of Rawlings, was the candidate for a presidential candidate. In the elections, however, Tanoh was clearly defeated by the later President John Agyekum Kufuor , he received only 78,629 votes (1.21%). In the simultaneous elections to the Ghanaian parliament, the NRP received approx. 2.25% of the vote, which, however, did not win a seat in parliament.

The party headquarters are in the north of Accra . The NRF's motto is Ghana First . The party logo essentially consists of the colors blue, white, red and yellow. It depicts a stylized yellow sun rising over white mountains in a blue sky. In the lower third of the logo, which essentially represents white mountains, the word "REFORM!" Is written in bright red letters.
