National Thowheeth Jama'ath

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

National Thowheeth Jama'ath (NTJ for short) is a radical Islamic group in the predominantly Buddhist Sri Lanka. She first appeared in public in December 2018 when she was alleged to have damaged Buddhist statues. The leader, Abdul Razik, has been arrested several times.

Authorities found 100 kilograms of explosives in a wildlife park (January 2019). Although no group of perpetrators was publicly named, the authorities announced the arrest of four radicalized Muslims. On Easter Sunday , April 21, 2019, there were several terrorist attacks on Christian institutions in Sri Lanka, as well as on international hotels, with 253 dead and 485 injured. Members of the NTJ should be responsible. Authorities assume international networking with other jihad organizations.
