National information line

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The national info telephones (NIT) are telephone connections that are used as an inexpensive way of distributing right-wing extremist content quickly and effectively via answering machines. They represent an important opportunity to build up new communication structures in the neo-Nazi camp. Secret information, which neither the “left spectrum” nor the authorities should find out, is disseminated through other channels, mostly by telephone or e-mail.

The importance of the NIT has decreased massively in recent years due to the increasing spread of Internet connections. Before almost every household had access to the Internet , it was a very effective and cheap way of providing many people with information quickly. Today, the exchange of information in the right-wing extremist spectrum takes place mainly via websites or discussion forums and mailing lists. A few isolated info telephones are still active. In addition, some websites now operate as the “national information telephone”.
