Pérez Rancier National Park (Parque Nacional Juan Bautista Pérez Rancier) is the youngest of the Dominican Republic's national parks . It lies in the highlands of the southeast foothills of the Cordillera Central . The area is at Valle Nuevo near Constanza . In the over 900 km² park there are mainly pine forests and shrubland.

history

The Reserva Cintifieca Valle Nuevo nature reserve had existed in the area since 1983. Overuse has led to erosion and landslides in the area. Nevertheless, the extended area was upgraded to a national park and has since been named after the Honduran conservationist and geographer Juan Bautista Pérez Rancier.
