Natural Environment Research Council

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) is the UK's research council for environmental research . He supports UK research, training and education in all areas of environmental science .

history

The NERC was founded in 1965 as an umbrella organization for various environmental science organizations (mainly geographic ). To a certain extent, the work of the NERC is comparable to the research funding instrument of the German Research Foundation (DFG), but the competencies and fields of activity of the NERC are even more extensive. The NERC operates its own facilities and builds, operates and manages all civil British research vessels .
