The natural monument 1000 year old oak was a natural monument in Olsberg - Brunskappel at the house Negertalstrasse No. 17. The 1000 year old oak was designated in 2006 by the Hochsauerlandkreis as natural monument ND 204 oak .

The age of the oak was estimated to be 350 and 500 years, but it was still popularly called 1000-year-old oak . On May 7, 2014, the oak was cut back to a remaining trunk length of seven meters. The honey fungus had settled in the tree and cut off the supply of nutrients to the treetop. The tree gradually died. Because the tree was right on the thoroughfare through Brunskappel and next to a residential building, it was sawed off to a residual trunk as a safety risk. The road had to be closed during the sawing operation. Using a forklift truck, larger parts of the tree were sawed off and then lowered to the ground with a crane. Shrapnel from the Second World War was found in the wood of the oak. In 2007, work was still carried out on the long-term preservation of the oak, which had no effect.

Investigations in 2015 on a tree slice sawed off at a height of seven meters in 2014 revealed a tree age of 260 to 270 years.
