The natural monument oak (Schützeneiche Messinghausen) is located about 1.5 km south of Messinghausen in the city of Brilon . The oak is called the archery oak. The tree was designated as a natural monument (ND) in 2001 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . The natural monument is surrounded by the nature reserve Talsystem south of Messinghausen .
