Nature conservation community Sylt

The Naturschutzgemeinschaft Sylt e. V. (NSG) is a regional nature conservation organization on the German North Sea island of Sylt .

The Sylt Nature Conservation Community was founded in 1924 as the Sylt Nature Conservation Association. V. founded and merged in 1978 with the citizens' initiative Sylt e. V. , which was founded in 1970 by opponents of the Atlantis high-rise project . The topics of the association include the protection, maintenance and development of heather, gentle tourism, regulated building on the island and the garbage on Sylt, the Wadden Sea National Park and nuclear power or renewable energies.

According to the association, half of the 400 or so members are from Sylt. In addition to a full-time managing director, many volunteers and employees of the Federal Voluntary Service , FÖJ employees and interns work in nature conservation work.

The association is the official sponsor for the nature reserves Morsum-Kliff and Braderuper Heide as well as for the landscape protection area and "geotope" Morsum-Kliff.
