The Nauticus was a nautical yearbook published annually by Mittler-Verlag .

The publication appeared since 1899 as Nauticus - Yearbook for Germany's Maritime Interests and, as a military and technically oriented publication, dealt with all areas of naval warfare, maritime economics, shipbuilding, ship technology and the economic background to the aforementioned topics. The yearbook was published at the instigation of Admiral Alfred von Tirpitz as a continuation of the old and new text on the naval issue, the editing was in the "news bureau" of the Reichsmarineamt , from which it was also funded with material. The first editor was the press spokesman for the news bureau, Ernst von Halle . He used the yearbook as an effective weapon to enforce Tirpitz's naval documents.

From 1917 the publication was given the title Nauticus and from 1938 the work appeared under the aegis of the High Command of the Navy .

After an interruption from 1944 due to the Second World War , the yearbook was reissued from 1952 as a civilian continuation under the title Nauticus - Yearbook for Seafaring and World Economy until 1991.
