Neßler cylinder in the stand

Neßler cylinders for comparative tests in pharmacy are colorless glass cylinders with a uniform inner diameter of 16 mm and a transparent, flat base. This allows the visual analysis of liquids. For this purpose, the liquid is filled into the Neßler cylinder and checked by looking through it from top to bottom against a white or - if necessary - against a black background. The test is carried out in diffuse light.

Cylinders with a larger inner diameter can be used when the volume of the liquid to be tested is so large that the column of liquid in the cylinder is no lower than that with the volume of liquid prescribed by the European Pharmacopoeia monograph in a cylinder with an inner diameter of 16 mm is achieved.
