Smoke warfare agent
Fog warfare agents denote a warfare agent class. The main representative in this class is mist acid . These substances create dense, opaque clouds of mist. Some are even impervious to infrared radiation. In principle purely defensive weapons, in order to take the viewer's view from the enemy, they often also impair one's own view. Due to the short distance from their own troops, these warfare agents require low toxicity . Nevertheless, many substances are harmful to health, even in small quantities.
Burning phosphorus can also be used to generate mist. For example, the Bundeswehr's light artillery missile system had smoke ammunition based on red phosphorus. The USA developed the M58 Wolf in the 1990s , which can use a smoke generator to create a fog curtain on the battlefield.
