Nelli Tarakanova

Nelli Jurijiwna Tarakanowa ( Ukrainian Неллі Юріївна Тараканова ; Russian Нелли Юрьевна Тараканова ; born September 9, 1954 in Lutsk ) is a former Ukrainian rowing woman who won an Olympic silver medal for the Soviet Union.

At the World Championships in 1975 , the eighth from the USSR had only finished fifth. For the Olympic debut of Frauenruderns at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, a new roller was nominated with the cast Lyubov Talalajewa , Nadezhda Roschtschina , Klavdija Koženkova , Olena Zubko , Olha Kolkowa , Nadiya Roschon , Olha Huzenko , Nelli Tarakanova and tax wife Olha Puhowska . This eighth won its preliminary run in Montreal ahead of the Romanians, Canadians and the eighth from the Federal Republic of Germany. The boat from the GDR won the second run ahead of the rowers from the United States. In the final, in addition to the preliminary winners, the four first-placed boats from the repechage race competed. In the final, the crew from the GDR won with almost three seconds ahead of the boat from the USSR, two and a half seconds behind the boat from the USA won bronze over the Canadians. At the 1977 World Championships , a completely new eighth competed for the Soviet Union.

The 1.84 m tall Nelli Tarakanowa rowed for Dynamo Kiev , in the eighth of 1976 a total of five rowers and the helmsman came from this club.
