Montes played in 1917 for the Montevideo Wanderers in the Primera División . In that season, his team finished fourth in the table.
National team
Montes was also a member of the Uruguayan senior team . He made his international debut in a 3-1 victory over Brazil's selection in the friendly on October 16, 1917. This was his only appearance in the national team. However, Montes also took part with the national team in the 1917 South American Championship , in which Uruguay won the title. In the course of the tournament, however, he was not used.
