Nesrin Berwari

Nesrin Berwari ( Arabic نسرين مصطفى برواري, DMG Nisrīn Muṣṭafā Birwārī ; Kurdish نه‌سرين مسته‌فا به‌روارى Nesrîn Mistefa Berwarî ; * 1967 in Baghdad ) is a Kurdish politician in Iraq . She studied architecture and urbanism at the University of Baghdad and politics and management at Harvard University in the USA .

From 1997 to 1998 she headed the UN Field Office for Human Settlement in Dahuk (Northern Iraq) before she was appointed Minister for Reconstruction and Development in the Kurdish government in Iraq in 1999.

Since June 2004 she was one of the four ministers in the Iraqi interim government , where she was responsible for public works.

In March 2004 an attack was carried out on Berwari. She survived unharmed, two companions died.

In the first freely elected Iraqi government since Saddam Hussein , sworn in on May 3, 2005 , she was Minister for Local Government and State Building Projects.
