Netsky is a computer worm from 2004 that was sent as a file attachment via email. It was developed by Sven Jaschan, who is also the author of the Sasser computer worm .

history

The worm was first found on February 16, 2004. It spread as an email attachment in forged emails. When opening this attachment, it is displayed that it was not possible to open the attachment.

The first versions of the worm, Netsky.A and Netsky.B, attempted to rid the computer of a possible infection of the Mydoom worm after the computer was infected by attempting to deactivate the worm and lock the back doors opened by the worm .

A successor version of the worm, Netsky.V, exploited a security hole found in Internet Explorer on September 8, 2003 to attack the computer. The worm then tries to deactivate virus scanners on the infected system.

The version of Netky found on March 11, 2004, Netsky.K, contained a message from the author stating that he had published the Netsky source code . Analyzes of the successor versions Netsky.L and Netsky.M showed that these were at least partially written by another author.

Particularly common worms of the Netsky series are:

  • Netsky.Q, which makes it difficult or impossible for computers to access the Internet.
  • Netsky.P, which creates infected files on infected computers such as: Doom3 crack. Harry Potter Screensaver and Britney Spears XXX pic .
