The New Internationalist (NI) is a monthly activist internationalist magazine based in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1973, it is the oldest activist magazine in the world. NI won the Utne Independent Press Award for "Best International Coverage" eight times. The magazine is a collective company owned by its employees with strict ethical and ecological regulations.

The magazine describes itself as "existing to cover global poverty and injustice; to focus on the relationship of the powerful and the powerless; to discuss radical changes to meet all of their basic needs and the people, To focus on campaigns and actions that fight for global justice. "

history

In 1973 the magazine was founded as a company by its employees. In 2010, the NI started an initiative to make the magazine more attractive to younger readers (to "get sexier"). Since then, more articles by well-known authors have been printed, larger photos shape the layout, the number of pages has been expanded by a third, the website has been relaunched and a new smartphone app has been published.

Today the magazine has branches in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
