Newag 311 are diesel locomotives of the PKP series ST44 and DR series V 200 ( LTS M62 ) that have been modernized by the Polish NEWAG works in Nowy Sącz since 2007 . The standard gauge variant is designated as 311D, the variant for the Russian broad gauge as 311Da.
The locomotives of the ST44 series have been completely modernized. Building on the preserved frame, the locomotives received new 12-cylinder V-engines of the General Electric 7FDL 12 series manufactured by General Electric Danzig . In addition, the locomotives will receive new electrical and electronic equipment, new main and auxiliary generators.
The locomotive superstructure was completely redeveloped and manufactured. The equipment in the driver's cab is also being rebuilt. The bogies including the traction motors were only revised.
