The ITL Railroad Company, Inc. (ITL) is a railway company based in Dresden , which fully since December 2010 SNCF is one group and part of the German Captrain group is.

Company data

The ITL was founded in 1998 as a family business under the name "Import, Transport, Logistik". In April 2008, 75 percent of the company's shares were sold to SNCF. Since December 1, 2010, ITL has been wholly owned by SNCF Geodis , the transport and logistics division of the French state railway, with ITL being wholly owned by Transport Ferroviaire Holding SAS in Clichy.

Until December 31, 2010, the company was managed by Wilfried Schumacher and Uwe Wegat. Uwe Wegat left the company on January 1, 2011 and Michael Meinhardt became his successor. After the complete takeover of ITL by the SNCF Group, Wilfried Schumacher was replaced by Jérôme Méline as managing director with effect from April 1, 2013.

In freight transport , ITL primarily transports bulk goods such as gravel or chippings, oil , raw materials , grain , containers and chemicals. Internationally, container trains between Rotterdam , Hamburg or Bremerhaven to Eastern Europe, as well as various other transports from and to the Czech Republic via Bad Schandau are operated .

ITL had its own workshop in the former Kamenz depot , which was given up in 2013. A new depot is located at the Pirna train station .

On July 26, 2012, two ITL trains were involved in a serious accident at Hosena station , killing a DB Netz employee working on the signal box.

ITL Eisenbahngesellschaft mbH has 19 of its own locomotives and 845 wagons (as of June 2012). Diesel locomotives of the DR series are mainly in use : eight V 60 D , one V 100 , two 132 as well as two DE-AC33C ("Blue Tiger") and two BR 293 Bombardier ex V 100 Ost. The 118 552 of the DR (118 002 of the ITL) was one of the train locomotives of the former GDR government train. 118 004 (ex DR 118 124) was scrapped in the former Kamenz depot in 2013.

In addition, rented and leased electric locomotives are used on long-haul routes, ten (as of 2012) copies of the Traxx type family from Bombardier and six (as of 2012) EuroSprinter from Siemens . Two of the EuroSprinters (as of 2012) come from the MRCE pool ( ES64F4 ). Furthermore (2012) six electric locomotives of the 189 series are leased from the MRCE pool and six diesel locomotives of the 285 series from Macquarie European Rail .

After the accident at Hosena station , locomotive 186  140 had been stored in Dresden with a total loss since August 30, 2012. It has now been cannibalized and scrapped.
