The Newman Street is an approximately 235-meter-long street in the London neighborhood Fitzrovia in the district of City of Westminster . It is located between Oxford Street in the south and Mortimer Street in the north.

Numbers 1 to 48 are on the east (right, south to north) and numbers 49 to 93 on the west (left, north to south). The only cross street is Eastcastle Street, which is where it meets Newman Street ends at the back of a building called Quadrangle . At number 26 of Newman Street is Newman Passage, which allows a passage to Rathbone Street, which runs parallel to the east.

Newman Street is geographically "continued" to the north by Cleveland Street, and to the south by Great Chapel Street.

George du Maurier

From around May 1860 to early January 1863, the future writer George du Maurier lived at three different addresses on this street , all of which were on the west side. Due to his marriage to Emma Wightwick, he moved with his wife on January 3, 1863 a more spacious residence on Great Russell Street .
