Nicanor González Méndez
Nicanor González Méndez (born May 16, 1864 in Talca , † June 7, 1934 in Santiago de Chile ) was a Chilean painter.
González was a student of Juan Mochi at the Escuela de Bellas Artes from 1879 . He also took lessons from Pedro Lira . As a scholarship holder of the Chilean government, he traveled to Paris in 1888 and studied there with Fernand Cormon , Jean-Léon Gérôme and Hippolyte Taine . He was professor of painting at the Escuela Nocturna de Pintura of the Sociedad de Fomento Fabril for more than 30 years . Several of his works are in the possession of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes .
