Nicaragua v. United States of America

Nicaragua v. United States of America is a decision of the International Court of Justice .

On April 9, 1984 Nicaragua sued the US for military and paramilitary actions in and against Nicaragua during the Contra War . On 27 June 1986, the court found that the US had violated international law by supporting the rebels and Nicaraguan harbors mined . It awarded Nicaragua compensation. That compensation was subsequently set by the court at $ 2.4 billion.

The US did not recognize the verdict and refused to pay.
