Nicole Hoevertsz (born May 30, 1964 ) is an Aruban sports official and former synchronized swimmer.

Education and professional life

Nicole Hoevertsz studied Antillian law at the University of the Netherlands Antilles . She moved to the University of Leiden , where she obtained a master's degree in law specializing in international law.

From 1991 to 1994 she worked as a consultant in the Foreign Affairs Department of the Aruban Government. For the Council of Ministers of Aruba, she was Deputy Chief Secretary from 1994 to 1996. From 1997 to 2001 she was an advisor to the Aruban Prime Minister.

Athletic career

As a synchronized swimmer, Nicole Hoevertsz was multiple Aruban champion and champion of the Antilles. Between 1973 and 1984 she took part in several regional and international competitions. The high point of her sports career was her participation in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . For the team of the Netherlands Antilles she participated in solo and duet. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 she was the coach of the synchronized swimmers on site.

Offices in sports associations

Hoevertsz has been General Secretary of the Aruban Swimming Association since 1991. She has been General Secretary of the Aruban NOC since 1998. For the Pan American sports organization PASO , she has been the commission president for women's sports since 1998 and has been the PASO's chancellor since 1999.

Activities within the IOC

In 2006 Nicole Hoevertsz was elected an IOC member. She worked and works in various commissions, such as B. in the Women's Sports Commission (2003 to 2015), in the International Relations Commission (2009 to 2015), in the Jurisprudence Commission (2014 to 2015), in the Sport and Law Commission (2014 to 2015), and since 2015 in the Audit, Olympic Solidarity and Legal Affairs Commissions.
