Niedergörne is an abandoned village in the Altmark , north of the city of Arneburg . It was halfway between Altenzaun and Dalchau .

It was demolished in 1975 in order to build the Stendal nuclear power plant on its ground . Construction of Unit 1 began on December 1, 1982. Construction was only stopped in early 1991.

The Altmark industrial and commercial park was built on the site of the former power station.
