from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lower Saxony volunteer card is issued to people who hold an honorary position. It is intended to promote voluntary work in Lower Saxony .

requirements

The card, introduced by the state in 2007, can be applied for in almost all of Lower Saxony's districts and cities. It is the only transnational volunteer card in Germany and is valid in Bremen and Lower Saxony . Both countries are cooperating on the issue. The providers receive discounts when visiting municipal and private institutions, events and the like. The card is personal and cannot be transferred to others. It is valid for three years and can be extended.

Anyone applying for the card must be at least 16 years old and do voluntary work for the common good without pay for at least five hours a week or 250 hours a year. This commitment should already be at least three years old or take place since the establishment of the respective organization and continue in the future. The activity can take place in Lower Saxony or outside of it.

criticism

In 2008, the State Youth Council criticized the volunteer card because the interests of the youth leader card (Juleica) were not sufficiently taken into account.
