Bremen volunteer card
The Bremen volunteer card has been issued to volunteers since September 2010 . It is the only transnational volunteer card in Germany and is valid in Bremen and Lower Saxony . Both countries are cooperating on the issue. The card enables holders to get up to 50 percent discounted entry prices in many public and private facilities in the sports, cultural, educational or leisure sector. For providers who grant discounts for volunteers, there is a sticker in the entrance area or at the cash desk.

Requirements for acquiring the volunteer card
- Voluntary work for the common good is performed at least five hours a week or 250 hours a year.
- The engagement has been carried out in Bremen or Bremerhaven for at least three years and the intention is to continue the engagement.
- The activity is not paid, but at most an expense allowance is paid.
Validity of the card
The period of validity of the volunteer card is three years. It will be extended (on request) if the requirements remain.
Issue of the volunteer card
The volunteer card is personal (non-transferable) and is issued by the Citizens' Engagement Department at the Bremen Senator for Labor, Women, Health, Youth and Social Affairs (upon request).
