The Evangelical Education Center Hermannsburg-Heimvolkshochschule gGmbH (until 2012: Lower Saxony Lutheran Heimvolkshochschule Hermannsburg ) is an institution for adult education under the sponsorship of Ev.-luth. Mission work in Lower Saxony in joint responsibility with the Association for the Lower Saxony Adult Education Center in Hermannsburg e. V. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover supports and advises the Folk High School in its work.

History and tasks

The Lower Saxony Lutheran Heimvolkshochschule Hermannsburg was founded in 1919 by Georg Haccius . It is the oldest rural Protestant folk high school in Germany. The state-recognized training center offers courses and seminars on the topics of leadership and advice , faith and life , social affairs and politics , art and culture, and family and work . It is a member of the Association of Ländlicher Heimvolkshochschulen Deutschlands eV and the Lower Saxony State Association of Heimvolkshochschulen in Lower Saxony eV Since September 2012, it has been one of seven democracy centers for adult education in Lower Saxony . This makes the Evangelical Education Center in Hermannsburg the local contact for questions and education for democracy and against right-wing extremism.
