history

The association was founded on June 13, 1981 in Hameln. The legal form is the registered association . The NTU currently comprises 66 clubs in Lower Saxony. After Carsten Runge's resignation, Jürgen Oetjens was elected interim president at the extraordinary general meeting on November 12, 2017. The logo adorns the three letters "NTU" in black letters, which are enclosed by the "Eum and Yang" arcs, the Korean variant of Yin and Yang, in traditional red and blue colors. This symbol stands for the universe and contains all antagonisms that can be found in the world. It is also an integral part of the national flag of South Korea.

Successful NTU athletes

In the course of its existence, the NTU has produced numerous successes on a world level. These include, for example, the reigning European champions in Freestyle Poomsae Franziska Schneegans and Lukas Stein.

Foundation, endowment

To support financially weak clubs and athletes as well as to promote children and young people, the NTU set up the "Lower Saxony Taekwondo Union Sports Foundation" on September 27, 2009. In 2016, an athlete received financial support for the first time: Pascal Otto was reimbursed part of the travel fees for participating in the Youth Olympic Camp in Rio de Janeiro.
